A Rear Knuckle (Left/Right), also known as a wheel carrier or upright, is a critical suspension and drivetrain component that serves as the central hub for the rear wheel assembly on Tesla vehicles. It is a high-strength, precision-cast part (often aluminum for lightweight performance) that connects several key elements: the wheel bearing and hub, rear control arms, toe arms, camber arms, and in some models, the electric motor drive unit. Its primary functions are to maintain precise wheel alignment (toe and camber), support the vehicle's weight, and transmit driving and braking forces. Damage or wear to the knuckle can severely affect handling, tire wear, and safety.
