Altitude sensor

An Altitude Sensor (often referred to as a ride height sensor or level sensor) is a crucial component in Tesla vehicles equipped with air suspension (primarily Model S and Model X). This sensor monitors the vehicle's ride height and attitude relative to the road surface, providing real-time data to the suspension control module. It enables features like automatic self-leveling, adaptive ride height adjustment based on speed, and the ability to raise the vehicle for increased ground clearance. The sensor typically uses a potentiometer or Hall-effect mechanism to measure the angle between suspension components, translating mechanical position into electronic signals for precise suspension control.
