Hood Release Actuator

A Hood Release Actuator is an electric motor mechanism that electronically controls the release of the front trunk (frunk) latch on a Tesla vehicle. Unlike traditional mechanical hood releases, this actuator integrates with the vehicle's centralized electronic system, allowing the frunk to be opened via the touchscreen, Tesla mobile app, key fob, or an interior manual release lever. Its primary function is to engage or disengage the frunk latch upon receiving an electronic signal, providing secure and convenient access. A faulty actuator can prevent the frunk from opening, cause error messages, or lead to security concerns if it fails to lock properly.
